All of the carbon emissions produced as a result of the Northeast Greenland Caves Project will be offset through the Trocano Araratama Conservation project. The Trocano Araretama Conservation Project is located in the Municipality of Borba, in the Amazonas State in North-West Brazil. The project has been active since June 2011 and covers an area totalling 1,346,541 hectares.
The aim of the project is to protect the forest against deforestation, to conserve the biodiversity that is present and to create benefits for the communities within the project area.
The Trocano Araretama Conservation Project has successfully been validated and verified by Environmental Services Inc. to the Natural Forest Standard.
